A live-action kabuki adaptation of Evangelion is coming to Yokohama in February 2026 as part of the series' 30th-anniversary celebration. The performance will focus on Shinji and Kaworu, with Kichitaro Kamimura and Sakon Onoe cast in the lead roles.
Fans of Evangelion heading to Japan in February 2026 can experience a unique cultural event: a live kabuki adaptation of the iconic anime. The performance is scheduled for February 23rd at the Yokohama Arena, as part of the "Evangelion: 30+" anniversary event.
The kabuki play will center on the relationship between Shinji and Kaworu. Renowned kabuki actors Kichitaro Kamimura and Sakon Onoe will portray the characters, promising a fresh take on the classic story.
Tickets for the Stage Area, which includes the kabuki performance, are priced between 28,000 and 36,000 yen. They go on sale November 29th via the event's official website. This is a must-see for Evangelion enthusiasts visiting Japan.
