Family Mart is installing crane games in 5,000 stores across Japan. This offers tourists and families a fun, affordable activity while visiting convenience stores.
Family Mart is adding crane games to thousands of its locations, targeting both foreign tourists and families. These compact crane games offer a variety of prizes and a fun diversion alongside the usual convenience store offerings.
Located in both downtown and suburban areas, the crane games will cost just 100 yen (US$0.65) per play. Select stores will also feature Pokémon Frienda video game machines, though these are currently limited to a few Tokyo locations.
This move follows Family Mart's phasing out of eat-in spaces and print magazines, aiming to create a more engaging experience for customers. With Lawson also introducing crane games, this trend could redefine the Japanese convenience store experience for travelers.
