Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty are teaming up with the Japan Sumo Association for exclusive merchandise. Available at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan stadium during the January tournament and online, these items offer a unique souvenir opportunity.
Hello Kitty and friends are getting a sumo makeover in a new collaboration with the Japan Sumo Association. This means you can find Hello Kitty, Kuromi, Pom Pom Purin, and Cinnamoroll adorning sumo-themed merchandise. Pom Pom Purin and Cinnamoroll are even dressed in kesho mawashi.
The collection includes drawstring pouches, hand towels, cushions, and even cooking aprons inspired by the sumo attire. Prices are reasonable, ranging from ¥1,100 for a pouch to ¥2,310 for a cushion.
Travelers visiting Tokyo during the Hatsu Basho (January 11-25) can purchase these items at the Ryogoku Kokugikan stadium. Alternatively, they're available online via the SuMALL marketplace starting January 7, offering a chance to snag unique Japan-themed souvenirs.
