The 36th Uonuma International Snowball Fight Competition welcomes teams globally to compete in a specially designed snow arena. While registration is closed, attending offers a fun glimpse into local culture.
Beyond the intense snowball battles, the event offers a taste of local specialties. Winners receive prized Uonuma-grown Koshihikari rice and locally brewed sake, considered among Japan's finest. There's also a cosplay photo contest, snow treasure hunt for kids, and all-you-can-eat Koshihikari rice.
The event takes place at Uonuma City Hibiki no Mori Cultural Center, Hibiki no Mori Park, Snow Colosseum. The opening ceremony starts at 8:40 a.m. on February 8th, 2026. It's a fun way to experience winter in Japan.
