Visa Worldwide Japan has launched a nationwide campaign called “Take the Train! Visa Touch Discount Campaign!” to promote the use of contactless payment on public transport. Important: The campaign is restricted to domestic cardholders. The campaign runs from May 1-31, 2026 and covers 46 railway operators across Japan. Users can get up to 30% cashback on their train fares when touching in and out of stations with a registered Visa contactless card. You can register on the Visa campaign page.
